Wedding Stationery Shapes

A Guide to the Modern Stationery Trend

If you’ve been following wedding stationery trends for the last few years, you’ve probably noticed that it’s no longer just about the design or colours; shapes have entered the chat and made themselves a major part of the overall look.

From soft arches to playful scallops, modern stationery is moving beyond the traditional and into more expressive formats. The right shape can instantly elevate your stationery and make a simple design feel more considered.

Here is a breakdown of the most popular stationery shapes right now, and how to choose the right one for your wedding style.

“How do I actually achieve shaped wedding stationery?”

If you love the look of arches, scallops, or wave edges, there are two ways to achieve this depending on your budget and how hands-on you want to be; professional die cutting at Peterkin or DIY with a cutting machine (like Cricut).

2. DIY on Cricut

If you are more hands-on or want to keep costs down, you can create shaped stationery yourself using a cutting machine like a Cricut.

What you need:

  • A cutting machine

  • Suitable cardstock

How it works:

  1. Design your stationery in Canva using one of my templates

  2. Use the standard process for your machine for ‘print and cut’

  3. Print professionally or at home

  4. Use the machine to cut around the shape

Things to keep in mind:

  • There is a learning curve if you are new to cutting machines

  • Alignment between print and cut needs to be tested, I recommend the print and cut method for perfect alignment

  • Results can vary depending on your machine and settings

That said, once you get the hang of it, it can be a great way to create custom shapes at home.
